workshop - discussion forum
The topic of this discussion workshop will be Sufism and its path to enlightement. We will use examples of Attar’s works to demonstrate the use of metaphors and hidden meaning in Sufi literature. Attar was one of the most important Persian mystics and poets of the 12th century. He also discovered the genius of Rumi. Attar’s epic „The Conference of Birds“ was prohibited in his days and Attar himself had to use a sophisticated strategy in order to live long in peace and be able to write.

The Conference of Birds is an allegory of the Sufi path to enlightement and inner quest. The dance is inspired by traditional Persian dance, Contemporary dance and Flamenco, accompanied by original music.
